Let’s take a closer look at its impressive growth rate via the App Ape data.
Although the app has launched just two months ago, more than 100,000 users have already downloaded the app. Due to the take-away coffee shop franchise’s strong presence in Japan, the app seemed to attract a lot of attention.

Thus, we might be able to conclude that the app also motivates people to go to Starbucks.

As shown in the chart above, both women and men, mostly in their 20s and 30s, are using the app. Since many of Starbucks’ coffee shops are located in urban areas, it is possible that a lot of business people might be using the app. The fact that a significant amount of users are male was a little surprising.

Concurrent App Analysis

Now we analyze its users’ characteristics with the concurrent app analysis function.

Note

Users of Pocket Parco, an app developed by a chain of department stores mostly used by middle-aged people living in urban areas, reached the highest degree of reoccurrence alongside the Starbucks app. The 4th ranked app is Tsukiji Gindako, an app developed by a Japanese fast food chain that often has its restaurants in malls. It is safe to assume that those successful chains in malls are increasing their customers’ engagement with the brand by operating their own apps.

Conclusion – How Far Will the Starbucks App Go –

We have learned that the Starbucks app is now mostly used in urban areas, successful acceptance of the app in the rural area will be a crucial factor for its further growth.
